Siendo aun nino, vera como tambien la guerra perfora su pueblo con las bombas de los pilotos alemanes. Pero el, que no tiene miedo y no corre a esconderse en el refugio, llega a conocer a uno desde el aire. Hasta que, separados de sus padres, debe ponerse al frente de sus tres hermanos y huir de la devastacion; primero a Santander, con un hambre tremenda, mezclados con los refugiados que llegan de toda Espana huyendo de los rebeldes. Los cuatro hermanos deben embarcarse en Asturias rumbo a un pueblito de los Alpes franceses, ya como ninos de la guerra.
